Or should you just do what everyone else does and Ditch the Colgate?
The first line should be something like “Every now and then, I get the sneaking suspicion that toothpaste is just a scam”. But the article should go through why we think it’s a scam (for example, it’s not good for your teeth), and how Colgate could be lying to us. Write a bit about the history of toothpaste, and how it’s been around for a long time. Make sure you explain that it’s not something new, and the current producers would never tell us the real ingredients. Explain that there’s even a Wikipedia article about it. If you want, maybe you can link to the article in the URL.
Background: use a sentence or two, but make sure we have some information about chemical compounds (like “ammonium lauryl sulfate”). Try to explain exactly how toothpaste works, and how its components are supposed to kill bacteria. Also include information about irritation and other advantages of toothpaste. This is pretty subjective, but something like “It’s a good idea to use brush your teeth first thing in the morning so it’s nice and clean for when you eat” would be fine.
Can Toothpaste Help Prevent Cancer?
Write about the chemicals in toothpaste: fluoride, glycerin and menthol. Bring up your views on fluoride and whether it’s bad for you, or perhaps even a carcinogen. Write about the ingredients that you think are bad for your teeth. Think about how people who have naturally healthy teeth don’t use toothpaste at all, and perhaps people should look into that more as an alternative. Write about the glycerin, and whether this is something that might be bad for your teeth. Talk about the menthol, as this helps prevent any unpleasant symptoms that can occur after brushing. Write about how you feel about fluoride, and whether you think it’s bad or not. Maybe show a picture of a tumor which shows just how much of the stuff gets into your body? (This is more relevant to European countries).
Write about the toxic chemicals in toothpaste. Write about the ingredients that you personally find dangerous. Also, it would be a good idea to mention all of the chemicals in toothpaste and their possible links to cancer or other diseases, or links with other health problems such as Alzheimer’s disease.
